Although early season fishing in late May and throughout June are long-time favorites, July is a month that has a lot to offer too! Consider this...
Fishing: The fishing is as good as early season, and muskie season has been open for about two weeks. Walleye fishing is excellent; bass are catch-and-release only during June to protect them during the spawn, but can be kept starting July 1st.
Weather: A big advantage of July is the weather, with its warm, bright summer days. Historically the average daytime temperature is around 79º. You're most likely to enjoy stable weather patterns in July, so if there are people in your party that are fair weather fishermen, you'll love it!
Planning your trip: July is one of the months that the kids are probably not in school. And there's the July 4th holiday that can be used to extend your vacation days. Travel on either side of the holidays to avoid congestion on the highways or at airports.
Family fun: With July having the best of our summer weather, you can stop on any of the sand beaches for swimming. The water is perfect in July. And blueberries are ripe by mid-to-late July. While your guide is cooking your shore lunch, cool off with a quick dip or explore close by for fresh blueberries.
